Better known to the wider world as Harry Horse. He was a highly talented illustrator, writer (particularly of children’s books) and singer, notably with Swamptrash.
His life was full of adventures, some of which were true – however incredible they seemed. He arrived in Edinburgh from Jamaica (not true) and began making a living with pen and ink. One of his first (paid) commissions was from Edinburgh based cycling magazine Freewheeling.
The illustration above went with an article (October 1979) about the rise in bicycle use in America following an energy crisis….
