Following Health and Safety concerns about the transporting of people and bikes to the top of Borders downhill courses, the Forestry Commission Scotland introduced a range of interim safety measures for uplift operators last year.
Now it’s looking for “entrepreneurs who can muster the necessary resources, business acumen and proper vehicles to run the passenger uplift service at its downhill mountain bike venue, at Innerleithen.”
“The new business will be responsible for operating a bus-based transport system to safely transport bikers and their bikes to the top of the downhill routes.”
The hope is that the new system will be running by early Summer.
Anyone interested should request a tender pack by February 16th. The pack can be obtained by emailing Christina Tracey. Tenders to be returned by March 13th.
