Spokes Objects to Rail Project

Posted by chdot on August 2, 2006

Local cycle campaign group Spokes and National organisation the CTC are objecting to aspects of the proposed re-opening of the Airdrie to Bathgate railway line. It is currently a fine Sustrans route through peacefully bleak Central Scotland.

A Bill to promote the railway is currently with the relevant Scottish Parliament committee. It contains plans to re-route the cycle path that Spokes regards as “very seriously deficient”. FULL DETAILS.

If you live in Scotland and want to see good cycle facilities, (especially ones to replace existing good ones), write to your MSPs (you have several under the proportional representation, List, system). Search by Postcode.

If you don’t, you might like to e-mail the Airdrie-Bathgate Railway and Linked Improvements Bill Committee.

Spokes is an active supporter of Public Transport schemes and welcomes the re-opening of the Airdrie-Bathgate railway line.
