Bike Station Waverley 2005
You’ve probably heard of The Bike Station (currently in the basement of Waverley Station). You might even have been there to donate a bike, buy a new (second-hand) one or hire a stand to fix your bike. Or perhaps you’ve seen BS staff at an event or doing a Dr. Bike or delivering Cycle Training.
It’s Edinburgh’s most successful (non-commercial) bike project. It started life as Castlecliff Bicycle Workshop. There are now seven paid people plus a host of volunteers. All are helping to make Edinburgh even more of a cycling city.
The Bike Station is a registered charity and is about to have its Annual General Meeting. Chairman Chris Brace says “this is an opportunity for the (voluntary) management committee to reflect on the past year and elect the board’s directors for the coming year. It is also a chance for volunteers and other people interested in the Bike Station to meet the committee and learn more about what the Bike Station is up to.”
“Volunteers to join the committee and help with the management of the project are welcomed – please contact myself if you are interested.”
email chris or call him on 07906 885 525).
The meeting will start at 11am on Sunday 20th August. There will be a short presentation from the Bike Station manager on the past year’s work followed by discussion about where the project is going in the coming year(s), especially the possibilities available in the new premises.
The 2nd half of the meeting will start at 12pm and will involve the committee undertaking it’s statutory duties including the election of directors for the next year.
