Flying Scotsman up for FIVE Awards

Posted by chdot on November 2, 2006

Biopic about Scottish Cyclist Graeme Obree has been nominated in five categories in the BAFTA Scotland Awards – Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Jonny Lee Miller) and Best Actress (Laura Fraser).

The ceremony will be on Sunday November 12th in Glasgow. It will “celebrate the best of Scotland’s film, television, interactive media and new talent”.

Next chance to see the film is on Thursday (9th at 8.30) at the FilmHouse – (details).

But don’t just turn up on the night and get a ticket. James Mackenzie devisor of new Film Festival REEL 2006, says it’s “selling well”. As an additional attraction, director Douglas MacKinnon will be making a personal appearance and answering questions.

An Award (or few) should help the film to get a distribution deal so it can perhaps be seen outside the ‘art cinema’ circuit.
