“George Street – Almost Unrideable”

In Edinburgh, George Street is one of the successes of the highly controversial (and mostly reversed) traffic management plan. Most of the traffic went elsewhere when it had to and hasn’t returned – even though some of the restrictions were swiftly removed.

Meanwhile in Toronto, photographer Martin Reiss is concerned about the state of the surface of St. George Street. His stylish Photo Blog, Martino’s Bike Lane Diary, highlights the problem – lumpy tarmac, a few leaves and hardly a car in sight!

A related site, Take the Tooker, chronicles the campaign for “a continuous bike lane uniting Toronto”.

When will someone produced a logo for ‘Edinburgh the City of Cycling’?
