Another Manufacturer Promotes Cycling

Not long after Trek boss John Burke urged the bike industry to back “bicycle advocacy”, another leader player has written – “Our corporate mission is to get more people riding bicycles.”

As reported on the BikeBiz web site, Josh Hon, son of folding bike manufacturer Dahon’s founder David, adds – “That is why we make bikes in a wide range of price categories. Naturally, we’re also a business that needs to make a profit to stay in business so we prefer that people buy a Dahon folding bike over other brands, but a person on a bike, even if another brand, is a lot better than that same person in a car.”

However this is not a sudden change of pace. Dahon’s web site mixes bikes with philosophy – “Dahon is committed to creating green mobility solutions for people who live active, environmentally friendly lifestyles”, and history – “Dahon was founded with the singular purpose of convincing more people to use environmentally-sustainable forms of transport”.
