Another Cycling Weekend

A range of cycling possibilities this weekend – list compiled by Maggie Wynn of trycylinginedinburgh

“Just a reminder that there are plenty of taster cycling events this weekend. These are free, open to anyone to join and suit all ages and abilities.”

Friday 11th to Sunday 13th May : Parents Like Us Festival at Leith Links 10 – 5.30pm

There is a hands on puncture repair session on Friday 3.15 – 4.15 and a try a bike session on Saturday 10 – 12 noon

Saturday 12th May : You are invited to join the Twenty Milers’ Ride

“As usual, we’ll meet at the top of Middle Meadow Walk (junction of Lauriston Place), at 10.30 am. We’ll plan to finish the ride by about 15.00 pm.

The ride will be heading to Musselburgh. Most of the route will be traffic-free and reasonably flat, with a total distance of 18 – 20 miles. It promises to be an excellent day out.

We’ll aim to have a picnic lunch on the sea front in Musselburgh (either bring a sandwich or pick one up in the town). We’ll also have time for a visit to Lucas, for those who prefer a hot lunch or who fancy an ice cream.

The ride is free and open to all. So tell your friends. You’re all very welcome.”

Contact for ride is Mike Lewis

Details of all 20-Milers rides can be found at, which also lists other organised rides in and around Edinburgh (there are more than a dozen to choose from in the next two months alone).

Sunday 13th May : A leisurely cycle ride to Newhailes Environmental Fair.

Sustrans are leading a cycle ride from The Engine Shed, 19 St. Leonard’s Lane to Newhailes Environmental Fair . The ride leaves The Engine Shed at 11am. The ride of approximately 5 miles takes a completely car free route along part of NCN Route 1. For more details email Katherine Taylor. The ride is free but here is an entry charge to the Fair.
